IIRC the initial stumbling block was the units I had bought switched the DRL on when the indicator went off, immediately, so I had flashing orange/white/orange etc.

I had this too after fitting my Halos. MOT tester did not approve and advised me to do something about it. I fitted two automotive relays, one for each indicator side with the coils energizing when the indicator circuit was turned on. (I run two wires from the indicator switch to the relay coils). The relays were wired normally closed in series with the output from the DRL controller to the Halo rings. Now when I operate the indicator, the Halos on that side drop out while the indicator flashes.

g4wam wrote: thanks for your replies -here is how I did my old MGF-just wired to be on when the ignition is turned on.
Then I fitted a switch inside to turn them off for the MOT(just in case they got fussy)
You did of course, turn them off manualy, when you turned on your headlights at night....didnt you...
I am sure you wouldnt want to dazzle oncomming traffic, and cars in front with almost twice the legal light output at night :yesnod:

I played with the idea of cutting a whole in the indicator lights and glue in a ready bought combi led (indicator and drl). Is your plan like this?

the MGF/TF was produced before the 2013 introduction of compulsory DRL in Europe, therefore whether they work are or not the current MOT doesn't really cover them . The MOT tester would look at hazardous wiring and advise or fail it was found in the DRL area though.

Almost, I got hold of some damaged mk2 smoked indicators and the combined unit I have just fits inside, just.
