loctite 248 stick and 249 tape
i note that quite a few fixings on the TF have blue threadlock on them, e.g. the timing belt tensioner patch bolt. Would the above products be suitable for this? The manual often recommends replacing these bolts, but where the torque on the bolts isn't particularly high I assume that's generally because the threadlock needs replacing, so I was going to add the above to my tool kit. I particularly liked the idea of the tape version, which I assume would potentially have a longer shelf life? Have others used these, or another Loctite product?

Yep I do my own cambelts and when I bought everything I needed from my local supplier...I got everything but the bolt....I used the blue loktite. ...cheaper brands might say lock and seal..they are just the right strength to keep the bolt there without welding it permanent like the red or yellow bearing fit variants....done hundreds of simular fittings like belt tensioners on commercial diesel engines with no problems...I always use the bottle type..in the past used the stick version on cylinder head bolts but because of using large quantities found them uneconomical...the head bolts we loctite go into water jackets ..so the loctite acts more as a seal to stop water rising .through threads...I even used threadlock on the mother in laws glasses to keep the screws in place has they were always coming loose..

When I built this 13 litre crane engine. (Not 1.3 litre) just after Christmas ...I probably used a bottle of loctite....on a tf you only want one of those Diddy bottles...because after putting on the cambelt and loctite the little bolt...I struggle to find any more uses for it at home....daf 13 litre below.(photos before rebuild)
And this 12 litre scania I built before Christmas had a lick of blue loctite to the flywheel bolts front damper bolts and belt tensioners....couldn't do without it.
Loctite is a qaulity brand and refer to in a lot of engine manuals...the scania has loctite supplied in the gasket set...it is a loktite superglue....to glue rubber gaskets to aluminium side doors..and finally I use the stronger loctite when fitting core plugs...a thin smear on mating surfaces....mm has for the 249 tape never used any and never will...it has a 24hr cure time and is expensive.
