Passenger window will not go up or down
Hi guys, you lot seem to be a knowledgeable group of people and I’m pretty sure this has been covered before but..
My passenger window is stuck half way. I have swapped switches and fuses seem ok..... same issue and have now taken the door panels off and done voltage checks.
I have 12v on both pins until the switch is pressed then one will go to zero volts depending on which way it is pressed. Is this normal?
Secondly if this is does this suggest the motor is dead? I had a similar issue when I first bought the car where it would only go down. That turned out to be an ecu issue and when I changed it it was sorted, but seems to be a different issue this time.
Any ideas people?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Passenger window is controlled directly from the switch and does not go through the ECU, it also is backed up by 3 fuses, two fuse links in the underbonnet fuse box and fuse 2 in the fusebox under the steering wheel. Relay 143 is the power switching relay also in the fuse box.
If you are getting 12v across the motor all of the time, it will mean that the switch is faulty, but if you press the switch and you get 12 volt across the motor and the motor does not operate and you do not blow any fuses, means that the motor has either blown its windings or the brushgear or commutator had failed, either way it needs replacing. Test the circuit on the grey and purple striped wire and grey and black striped wire, that go to the motor. If you have voltage there all of the time, and the motor is not running, then you have to replace the motor and switch.
If the voltage only switches when the switch is pressed and the window motor does not run, then its just the window regulator motor that needs replacing.
One other thing to consider is the possibility of a broken wire in the harness that moves when the door opens. May be worth checking there if you are getting no voltage at all at the motor, but across the back of the switch you do measure voltage.

Definitely not the switch. I swapped it with the driver side one. I was thinking of doing a fly lead from the drivers side to passenger side to see if that works drives the motor.

Might be worth putting a live feed to the motor from the switch plug .
