Hi to all on the Tbar and a very Merry Christmas.
After getting a distress call from my niece ( no really she is my niece ) about her non starting Suzuki, I assembled a few tools and travelled across to hers . Engine turning but not a sign of it firing . Ok , when did it last have a service I asks ......Oh err , well err , a while ago was the reply . 60 k on the speedo and my thoughts turn to whether or not it's had any plugs in its life . Removed plugs and tried to see if there was a good spark . The gap on all was HUGE and the spark was feeble . So off to Euro parts to buy some more . Now at this point I have to say that I have been retired from the motor trade for a few years now but even with discount to me how on earth have 4 spark plugs come to the eye watering price of £ 64 ! ? ! ? ! ? Without the discount . . . . £93  At this point I might add that I know I'm tight cos I'm from Yorkshire but for goodness sake £64 !
The car started first turn thankfully but WOW .
John .

Bloody hell that's expensive! Couldn't clean and re-gap the old ones to test?

Back when cars had carbs and spark plugs were changed annually that would have been expensive.
Nowadays with fuel injection the plugs last many years so it's not so bad.

When I started motoring, plugs were five bob each - £1 for a set of four.
I could fill the Mini which took four gallons of four star for the same price
I don't know what is special about the Suzuki, but you can buy a set of four Bosch or NKG for practically any car for £10 to £15.
Were they taking the P?

Don't think that he was extracting the urine as I've known him years in the trade . Just glad I don't own a Suzuki!
