Should I change my injectors?
My 1.6 TF is 15 years old and has covered 97,000 miles. It starts and drives OK, however the orange warning light comes on periodically, and then resets itself after a few days - possibly a 'fuel mixture warning'? Also at the last MOT the tester had problems getting the idle CO low enough. I've considered getting the injectors tested, but with a set of four new MGRover injectors being less than £100 from Rimmers, is this effectively a 100,000 mile service item? Can these type of injectors be tested, and if so what would it cost?

It is quite easy to test the injectors for yourself, I saw it on wheeler dealers but there'll be videos on you tube on the subject.

I would get the fault code before playing about with the injectors, although they are simple enough to change, I did change one on my V6 engine on my ZT-T. If you do end up changing them, make sure you get an O-Ring kit for the fuel rail system, as it would be best to fit new O-rings for any you may disturb while taking the injectors out. Not sure if the new injector come with new O-rings fitted, so also worth checking out. The fault code should point you in the right direction. If you don't want to splash out on a P-scan unit, there are cheap OBD-II bluetooth dongels that will work on the Mems 3 TF's with a smartphone and the Torque App. Mine cost me about 7 quid and has not failed me yet in identifying any faults, although I have only used it twice!

One test they don't have is comparing flow from the 4 injectors.
To do this extract all 4, reconnect the wiring, rest them above 4 identical receptacles, turn on the ignition for a few seconds.
If all of the injectors are working correctly there should be the same amount of fuel in each receptacle.
If you do replace them make sure you get the same colour as this indicates the size, go for a different size and you will either over or under fuel.
