Bonnet badge removal
Mine was all faded and horrible, so I bought a new one. I managed to get the old one off without damaging the bonnet, but there's a lot of very tough black glue remaining.
Any way I can clear it off relatively easily please?

OK, sorry, who'd have thought there was so much correspondence on this (very minor I thought) topic.
But not a lot on removing the old adhesive, sadly... it is VERY strong.
A lot of other folks bought kind of stick-on badges, but the one I have is a metal plate, so I can't just stick it over the existing one, as several have done...

Meh... SO bored at the moment, couldn't wait to see if anybody had any miraculous solutions... wasn't really expecting any anyway.
So I just hacked away at it with a Stanley blade till it was down to a fairly thin layer - it's incredibly stiff and hard, like hard rubber.
Then I just stuck the new one on - hope it stays there

Well... I had the first two
I think it's well stuck and I got enough of it off so the badge isn't standing proud. Here's hoping!

With respect to sticking on replacement gel logos when you have a badge with cast raised text, I took a mini drill with a grinding wheel to mine and ground off the letters to leave a flat finish to the octagon onto which I stuck the gel badge.
