Recommendation - HGF repair.
Hello,
After finally completing a house move to Cornwall and getting the F transported down from Somerset where it hand been parked for two months after a HGF I am in two minds about doing the repair myself. I have bought a host of parts and got the car in the garage but wondered if it's going to be too big a job for me.
Can anybody recommend a mechanic who is comfortable carrying out this sort of repair on an F around the Devon Cornwall border?
Many thanks.

Can't help with machanic's in your area, but any of the mobiles will come to you. Before you buy to many bits, especially head gaskets the head will need to come off first. It all depends on whether the liners are proud of the block, level or they have sunk.

Gaskets, water pump, tensioner, belts, SS pipes, etc that I think I would need to start the job, but I wondered about specialised tools needed for a repair.
I guess there jobs I can do such as the SS pipes and water pump I could get on with, but yup I think an experienced guy would know what to look for when repairing the HCF itself.
I suppose moving further from central England makes the mobile mech an even more expensive option.

My brother in Portreath had a TF for 6 or 7 years. He passed on all of the history when he sold the car last year. Basic servicing was carried out by a local garage in the village but he remembers getting the cambelt done by someone in Helston. He also remembers speaking to Tim Kelly

in St Agnes.
You'll need to do a bit of detective work but it's somewhere to start.
