Back and forwards adjustment for rear of soft top ? was created by a Guest

Ive been looking through old posts and the How To's but Ive not found anything on this.
The rear of my TF's hood is standing high at one corner exposing it's metal edge. No amount of pushing it down helps because ths part of the hood is slightly fouling the bodywork (plastic edging strip to be more precise) on this side.
It looks like the rear of the hood needs to be moved slightly frontwards for this part of the hood to sit right at the back. Is there an adjustment for this somewhere please on the hood mechanism ?

Hi, inside the back of the car behind the rear shelf cover are securing clips, spaced out around the edge (these secure the back of the hood to the body). If you unclip these clips you can lift the back of the hood up. If there is something there that its fouling, you can remove it and refit the clips to secure the back down again. It's only a ten minute job, but if the back of the hood has not been moved for some time it may be a little stiff!

There is (normally) a foam sealing strip around the bottom of the metal frame that sits into the hood well and maybe this is the problem, I would raise the back of the hood to see what's stopping it locating properly. There are quite a few threads on this foam strip and a lot of people remove it, the consensus is it's a water seal but I think it's to insulate the hood frame from the body and avoid squeaking as the body flexes. My frame tends to bind on one side and I always put a bit of pressure on that side when refitting to ensure it fits snuggly. The frames probably go slightly out of square with time and usage but unless it's a major issue I leave it be and call it patina.
When raising the back of the hood I always release the front clips first (but still engaged) to take the tension out, but be aware that the rear section wont stay up on its own so you will need a bungee or something to hold it up while you investigate.

Hi, Its not the clips, they just provide some gentle downwards force and ive tried pushing down harder than the clips could. The remains of the sealing strip is very thin and is definitely not the issue here.
The problem is that the hood frame is probably half a centimeter too far back on this corner compared to the other side. It will always foul slightly unless it can somehow be moved forward.
Is any adjustment in the frame possible (other than hitting it with a large hammer) ?

You've probably already tried this but, if the rest of the hood seems to align reasonably, perhaps the rear hoop, below the window needs some persuasion - a bit of bending forward or to the side?
Has the hood been replaced? If so, maybe it was a DIY job. I did mine myself and it wasn't easy. It still doesn't align perfectly and I've never figured out how to adjust it (the tension on the left hand side seems to be too great).
Have you got a picture?

Bruce is right a picture might help, have you measured each side of the hood frame to see if they are the same length, then measure the distance from the hood mounts to the hood well lip both sides to see if they are the same. If the measurements are equal for the frame and hood well then something's not square.
Hopefully it's the frame not the body if you find a difference.

If you think the frame is out I happen to have a spare MGF one which I believe is the same as the TF, no idea where you are but I'm in Holbeach Lincs if you want to come and get it.
PS Don't ask about posting it, it weighs a ton

Thats a very kind offer. I will measure the rear part of the frame and work out where is it out.
