If you research before flapping your jowls about, the 1.8 20v will happily give that figure on a remap, versions run 170 standard on a sniff of boost. Turbo and fmic gives 250, the only reason the tt lump goes a little higher is some heads depending on year have larger valves, their conrods are also a couple of mil fatter, hence their desirability secondhand for project engines. If you are prepared to then upgrade further, 300 is quite regularly seen, some go much higher.
This engine is often seen as the replacement for the cossie of years gone by. :pop:

All back together, first turn of the key. Boosting nicely, no leaks, all quiet.
Ran active diagnosis to test all fans before letting it run to full temperature, all OK.

Popopop :tada:
Depending on fairmly I'll remap on Friday or next day I get near the car.

As an aside I helped rebuild a 5.0 v10 toe-rag today that had been in limp home, only running on 5 cylinders :woowoo:
Sweet getting it running on all ten. Less than no room under the bonnet. :bat:

well this afternoon i have fitted a new off side rear lamp cluster, the old one was cracked.
£45 from ebay.

then i set about polishing the headlamp covers - being plastic they begin to fade over time with UV damage. a gentle scrub with a damp sponge scourer, and a thumbnail of toothpaste (yup), works a treat.
toothpaste also good for other hard plastics, rear windows, lamps, etc. minty fresh!

best thing for external textured black trim?
peanut butter (smooth) - the natural oils work a treat. just rinse off well to avoid being chased by wasps :woowoo:

The Passat is a very capable motor, drove loads when I worked at VW/Audi, I just found them boring to drive.

The VW TDi engine is also very capable.
