Hello to all,
When i bought my mgf i found there was 2 small (1cm long) tears int he roof where the metal has worn it away, it wasnt letting water in but didnt want to risk it getting any worse so i have come up with this small solution which i am putting into practice that i thought others might benefit from.
I went online and looked up fabric companies who sell canvas, found one called deck chair stripes who offer free swatches of their fabric along with free postage. There is a limited number of fabrics to choose samples of and they are all striped in different colours, so i picked those with the largest black stripes on i could find one of which clams to be waterproof.
When they have arrived i will cut off the section needed allowing a 1/1.5 cm gap around the roof tear and use a carpet adhesive spray i have to apply it to the inside of the roof covering the tear. This should stop any water getting in, stop the tear from getting any bigger and stop the metal frame from rubbing anymore on the damaged area also.
I know its not very handy but this might help someone in the future.

Ok, my method..
One piece of freebie sample waterproof canvas courtesy of deck chair stripes
one permanent marker in black and some colouring in plus scissors later
one more snip
Two patches that are waterproof and so far... cost nothing.
next, one can of spray adhesive which i had lying around from a carpet repair
one hole in roof caused by metal bars rubbing
one patch on the inside, not the neatest of jobs but it stops the daylight coming through on the inside and now its water tight again.
Will do until i can replace the roof ready for next summer.
