Please help me find out my engine specs as the numbers don't make sense to me!
Thanks in advance ☺ .
The dash is because the red line is at 6750? VVT should be at 7250... id sticker says 1.8 VVT but chassis numbers seem to indicate non VVT and CVT bix .. has 5 speed manual.
Cheers Trev

The sticker on the slam panel covers both variants.
CVT wasn't around in 97.
Your car has a non VVC engine.

No, Rover designed the K Series engine in house. I'm not sure if it pre-dated their involvement with Honda, but if it didn't I still think it was very much a UK effort.

Definitely not Ho da and no relation to the Honda K engine. If you can be bothered to do some reading, you will find it is a very advanced engine design for its time and it will go to 200,000 miles without serious trouble if it is properly looked after. Fresh coolant every two years, regularly and thoroughly checked rubber pipes, stainless coolant pipes, a good radiator and a coolant level sensor help a great deal together with an understanding that the oil temperature gauge might not be accurate but it wasn't put there by a cash strapped Rover Group for fun. If you do not exceed 3000 rpm until the needle is off the stop, it won't go bang. ANY coolant loss at all, ever, means stop, find the fault and fix it immediately.

The designers planned for an oil pressure gauge. The accountants went for the cheaper oil temp..

No but VVT is Honda, the MG Rover use VVC.

The Rover/Honda collaboration was much earlier. I had a 1982 Triumph Acclaim with a 1335cc Honda twin-carb OHC engine (nice car, if a bit underpowered) and a ghastly Trio-matic gearbox which was neither fully manual nor fully automatic. I believe that it was more or less the same as the contemporary Honda Ballade.
