With the older mechanical odometer/speedos it was possible to physically rotate the number dials to create a new mileage reading. However, in Blighty, the good old home country, the mileage is recorded every year when you go for your MOT certification, so a pretty pointless exercise, unless you were trying to match a replacement clock to the correct mileage.
Interestingly, my mk2 F (electronic odometer) had a replacement second hand instrument cluster fitted that was approx 100,000 miles less than actual. It was simply recorded into the MOT database as such.🫡
