Allan,
If you had to resrict the bracing to one or two pieces, which would you keep? In other words which one(s) give(s) the best result?

Every little helps when it come to torsional stiffness

The two cars a different in terms of modding for stiffness

The TF already gets the extra bracing as standard.. so every F should look to add these if they want to track day their car

Seam welded subframes and solid subframe mounts are a good idea (TF have solid mounts already)

Bracing between the shock towers on an F make sense if you are running uprated shocks

On a TF the spring towers could do with gussets adding and cross bracing

The body shell is fairly stiff.. but bracing under the bonnet and boot area make sense

Andy Watson had one of my 'towel rails' fitted under his bonnet.. and following the crash it was evident that everything in front of the towel rail twisted but everything behind it survived

Engine bay seam welding makes sense too.. Cheap if you cna weld and the subframe is out

I'd go for the easy ones.. poly bushes and stiffer shocks.. individulaise the spheres on an F..

Then go for seam welded subframes..

Then go for braces between the shock/ spring towers

Andy W and I have gone for uprated anti roll bars too.. plus uprated mounts for them..

Trouble is where do you stop..

Andy Watsons car has had a fair bit done to it in terms of 'upgrades' plus a few bits that will be going on soon..

But I'm going to look at a bolt on solution for him for boot braces and front and rear shock struts

So bolt on is possible... Although marginally less effective than weld on

Left the car at the garage today to sort some bits so I now have an MOT! Wahay :-) They also did the front tracking, put the other caliper, hose and disc on and put through some ATE SL6 brake fluid through. So I owe them £100 :-( but the Mrs is happy I didnt spend another day under the car and Ive probably saved a few quid on the chiropractor. Oh and I put the 52mm throttle body on that Id never got round to selling :-)

I have to say though I have a bit of a problem with this site. Whenever I log in I find something else I have to do. Its getting bloody ridiculous. Now I have to check the coolant hoses. I'll update the todo list at some point but cant be bothered at the moment 'cause its so long.

Got the day to myself tomorrow so a little tinkering is on the cards.
If I put my zs wheels on (205 45 17) with a mike satur adaptor will they fit?
