97 Nightfire Red VVC with 36k miles
I'm back... well for a while anyway...
After spinning my F on the M74 one wet Monday morning the damage was sufficient for it to go to the breakers
But all is not lost as I have a spare.... it's just taken me ages to make time to recommission it!
I did have it just about sorted some years back but I wasn't confident enough in the state of the engine to press it in to service and it got pushed to the back of the very long queue...
A benefit of lock down (and losing some storage) has meant I've been forced in to spending some time on my cars and the F managed to jump the queue with the intention of selling it when it's MOT'd (note the intention  ).
What have I been up to...
I've dropped the rear subframe, had it blasted and I've painted it with Raptor in a very fetching Nightfire Red to match the body!!! Well why not
It's been rebuilt using Polybushes and I'll be fitting SS solid front mounts when it goes back in (hopefully over the next few days!).
While the subframe was away I've replaced the suspect HG (which was the right move as it still had the original plastic dowels fitted), water pump, belts, fitted SS coolant pipes under the floor and reconfigured the coolant system to fit a PRT.
The rear Hyragas units have been re-gassed and SS braided brake hoses fitted to the rear brakes (front still to be done) with new pads. The clutch M/Cyl has had new seals and the rear bumper (damaged in storage) has been replaced with a good one picked up from eBay.
Rear exhaust shield mounts have been upgraded to SS but I now need a heat shield before I put it all back together!
The front sub-frame will probably get the same treatment next winter unless I decide to sell which is a strong possibility as I have far too many cars for one man to work on never mind use!
The body is remarkably rust free but the interior is a bit of a mess! The seats are good in black leather and I'll give everything a good clean once the rear end is back together. Hopefully that's all I'll need for the MOT and then see how it runs over the summer.
Some interesting points to note.. The exhaust still has a 97 date code on it, the brake discs are hardly used and it has the Aircon option, although I did have to cut a couple of pipes to get the subframe out doh...
So my question is.... is it worth continuing or should I just use the engine to do a K-conversion on one of my many MGB's?

Sounds like you've been busy, personally I'd sell the MGBs and spent the money on MGFs.

:nofight: thought it was a controversial question around these parts
I'll keep going for now and (hopefully) enjoy a bit of fun over the summer. Then I'll think about selling to someone who want's an easy winter front sub-frame project on an early MGF with a RUST FREE shell ..... now that must be rare

I've still not cleaned the interior (hope get around to it this weekend!) but have managed about a 100 miles of fun.
