Just got a fibreglass trophy style front splitter for my mgf (thanks Mr Maltby) question is what's the best way to fit it? Is it some sort of glue job or a few screws? Thanks

In that case if its one of those I'd advise putting some TIGER SEAL on it this stuff can stick an elephant to a ceiling it wont come off then.

i have used the same scrivets that hold on the wheel arch liners just like these
10x Plastic Screw Rivet Scrivet m8 8mm Car Bike Trim Liner Bumper Panel Interior
Buy It Now

i have left the gaps as the spoiler is body coloured but thats up to you ,a bit like gluing it on i wont do that because the front bumper would be trashed if the spoiler got damaged IMHO

I had an original Trophy splitter fitted and it was bonded to the bumper along the top edge.

After much swearing and cursing, my good lady and kids staying well away I finally got my new trophy style splitter to fit! I used a mixture of stainless nut and bolts (three across the bottom and one in each wheel arch) and tiger seal. The glue is awesome and after a day I suspect you could stand on it without it budging!
Tip: don't get it on the other paintwork, this results in hours of elbow grease and a hair dryer to soften it!
Second tip: wear gloves, seems impossible to remove from skin!

Blu Tak or Sellotape is a good way of fixing a splitter. Or Juicy Fruit chewing gum.
It will then fall off at the first bump, you will drive over it and smosh it into splinters.

Then there will be one less splitter on the planet. :broon:

:coat:

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

An F without a splitter handles like dentures without fixative chewing gum!...........Badly.

When I removed a trophy splitter from a scrapyard car it was held on with double sided sticky foam (5mm), the same stuff was used on the MG bits on my wifes ZR. In the arches were screws and underneath some christmas tree clips.

I got some from ebay, carefully removed the residue of the old stuff borrowing Mrs TC's hairdriver to soften the glue, applied the new to the splitter, with the aid of Mrs TC we held the spoiler to the car and then carefully peeled away the other backing as I pushed the spoiler onto the car.

I then added a couple of screws on either side in the wheel arch, on the underside I drilled a few holes and used cable ties instead of christmas trees.

The splitter was then subjected to a pan european testing from snow in the alps to 30's in Italy, heavy rain and autobahn speeds with no ill effects.
