From the looks of things, you will need:

- New "T-piece" at the exhaust-side of the head (with the extra sensor)
- A MEMS3 ECU (and matching to the 5AS system)
- A later inlet manifold with all the sensors
- A later Alternator
- Coil Packs (VVC's shouldnt need this)

Your biggest problem will be the loom, the loom is not just plug'n'play........

ATTENTION: This topic is for a VVC, I am doing a MEMS3 on my MEMS1.9 1.6 ROVER Cabriolet ;)

What is the T-Peice mate ?

I have a couple of looms, I have a 1.8 turbo loom and also my 1.4 25 MEMS3 loom, its a lot of work
but my plan was to just do a full loom swap, remove it all from the Cabby and replace with the 25,
the cabby is coming to bits to rust proof and do an A/C conversion and replace all the interior so I
might as well.

Hopefully we will end up with a guide for 1.9 and 2J to 3, and without wanting to alienate any one this is a MGF/TF forum so threads and how-to's will favour these cars.

How long would you think a pro would take to do the work I am thinking of the loom.

I am trying to be "clever" and create a plug and play loom which is obviously more involved but if the pro knows all the loom colours and just does a cut and solder change on the car it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours.

Do you have a list of models and years of what cars run 3, 2J and 1.9 ?

Mk 1 MGF MPi runs MEMS 1.9
Mk 1 MGF VVC runs MEMS 2J
Mk 2 MGF onwards run MEMS 3 regardless of engine

200 and 400 16v run 1.9 except the BRM that is 2J, 8v run 1.6
25/ZR and 45/ZS run 3 except the V6 that runs a Siemens 2000

75/ZT is a BMW

MEMS 1.9 was fitted to MGF until VIN 522572, this includes early Mk2 MGFs MY 2000, such as my Wedgwood SE. This data came from Dieters MGF site .

Only found this out during research on my ABS system !
