Coolant training started today.

Is it just me? Or, at around 02:20, can this pup swim really fast?

With a 3 year old grandson and plenty of visiting kids in our family, taking a nice fat beef bone off a hungry dog is an essential part of training a big pup, in my opinion. I'm not sure which one of the 7 dwarves he was the first time I did it, but he definitely wasn't 'Happy'.

Now, at just over 5 months old, I can take a bone off Jet and then give it back to him all day long without him batting an eyelid. More importantly, so can the kids. Although they're advised never to bother a dog that's eating of course. However, we all know that with children and animals accidents sometimes happen. :yesnod:

Totally agree Leigh. I've seen people scared to even interrupt their dog when it's eating. :nonod:

6 months old today. I'm just using this thread as a 'growth diary'. To remember what a lanky scrawny thing he was, unlike 'Billy' in the other pics. Incidentally, Billy looks very much like my old dog that I worked when I was running the Rover guard dog section. Bigger boned, steady, medium length fur. Sadly missed for the past 10 years. :yesnod:

I reckon he might have a bit of otter in him.

Voice on command is easy enough. Shutting them up is the hard part.

Nice to see somebody putting in the time and effort in Leigh, for me a uplifting post. They grow so quick.
A bit random but Billy urinates around home in the aco drains our back yard is tumble paved i had it done for him in the spring the turfed areas prior he never urinated on. Around work he also uses the drain,he has not yet cocked his leg.
Easier in terms of hygiene but i have never known a dog or bitch do this on the bullseye in the drain everytime,
I have discussed this with the trainer who suggested he may still be wary about putting his scent around incase he gets attacked.
I am not to sure on that theory,i am not discrediting it the trainer his good but Billy is quite terrotorial about his run around home as expected and a confident sociable dog.

 I hope he hasn't punctured the liner.

Reiver managed to put a claw through the liner in one of my ponds a couple of Winters ago after the ice covering she was walking on gave way beneath her! :pinch: :bust:
