The date: Saturday 19th June
Meet at : Edisford car park, Edisford Road, CLITHEROE (BB7 3LA) 10am for a 10.30 departure
We’ll be travelling mainly on unclassified and B roads through Northern Lancashire and North Yorkshire.
In total the distance will be around 75 miles.
The route:
Leaving Edisford we head for Hurst Green and Stonyhurst before entering the Trough of Bowland passing through Whitewell and Dunsop Bridge (the geographical centre of the UK). Then through Slaidburn and over the moors to Bentham with lunch in Clapham. The roads are narrow, but the views are vast and there are some fantastic surprises along the way.
We’ll stop for lunch in Clapham - a very pretty village with walking shops, tea rooms and a pub or two.
After lunch, we’ll head back towards Clitheroe via some more wonderfully twisty roads. These will take us through Gisburn Forest, along the length of Stocks Reservoir and over Waddington Fell. There we drop down into the Ribble Valley. There’ll be an opportunity for a stop in either Lancashire’s Best Kept Village of Waddington or go straight back to Clitheroe depending on mood!
ALL WELCOME!!
Not done this before...so play nicely girls and boys
