Side repeater or bulb. - How to replace. was created by cjj

As I bought some blue side repeaters I took a few photos when I fitted them.

If you need to replace the unts or just replace the indicator lamps then this is how I did it.

This is the standard side repeater.

It is a push in unit and needs to be levered out.

Place something over your paintwork to prevent damage when levering.

I used a plastic rule to protect the paintwork and a screwdriver to lever with.

Make sure you get the screwdriver under the rubber seal (be careful not to damage the paintwork), otherwise you will just pop off the glass cover (As I did).

You may need to lever the other side too to release the repeater.

Once the repeater has been released, hold the lamp holder and twist through 90 degrees to remove.

This will leave the lamp holder.

If you need to change the lamp then just pul it out and push a new one in.

I had to file out the new lense unit a bit to allow the lamp holder to push in and twist to lock

Once the lampholder has been fitted the repeater can be pushed back into the hole, with a bit of force, until it locks in place.

There is a notch on one side of the repeater lense. Make sure this is pointing downwards. If it is pointing upwards it may let in water.

The new repeater is now fitted.
