Got my dream project car
Hi All,
After months of searching and hoping I finally found an MG F that I immediately fell in love with. Only 117.000 KM on the clock, manual and it is yellow.
The plan was to get a small convertible that will require some love to get back on the road but is not breaking the bank. I had to pick my MG F up from about 130KM away and put in on a trailer. Something I was a bit nervous about. The last time I drove somewhere with a car trailer was 25 years ago.
But everything went well, just a major struggle to get pretty low sitting car onto a shitty and way too high rental trailer.
Issues that need adressing are suspension (of course) and the engine. The head gasket is good, but it currently sounds like rit unning on 2 or 3 cylinders. Spitting and coughing, throttle input immediate stalls it. 2 - 3 of the Hydragas spheres might be gone and while a conversion might be the best way forward, I need to stick with the original system for a while.
So be prepared for a range of questions from a new MG F noob here from Australia (Sydney).

G'day and welcome to The-T-Bar.
You have my condolences, for being in Smegtown AKA Sydney....I lived in Glebe and Newtown for a bit, during the construction boom leading up to the Olympics........I'm in glorious Melbourne now!
Anyhow, I recommend you have a quick sqiuz at the checklist for new members and owners: https://www.the-t-bar.com/forum/54-how-tos/99326-a-check-list-for-new-owners

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Coming weekend I will spend some time on the car. Addressing the stutter/tumbling engine issue first. Will replace spark plugs and ignition coil with new bits and have a close look at ignition cables and distributor. Couldn’t find a distributor cap at the two shops I tried today, but want to replace that as well.
