It's a bit hard to say without seeing the damage but as you say the car still starts and runs, so the damage can't be too bad, so I'm fairly sure it would be easy to bin the silly alarm and splice in some new wires or possibly even replace the damaged loom. I've fixed huge damaged sections of wiring without any real drama in the past. I've resurrected cars with both the dash and engine wiring looms burnt to a crisp!
The loom in question may well be a simple plug and play replacement.

To better help us to help you could you post some pix of the damage?

Is there any paint burned off the bodywork? Or nearby melted plastic components? (This is always a guide to the severity of the intensity of the fire)

I don't know how many problems I've seen over the years that were caused by aftermaket alarms, either the alarm itself or the crappy installation of it, is the cause of the problems.
I myself won't have one, if I buy a car with one I rip it out and bin it.
I do sometimes wire in a simple LED the flashes to imitate an alarm and act as a deterrent when the car is parked.
One fact about all security is it's the 90% bluff, that works.

Well I've slept on it, still feel the same. There's no damage other than wiring, we were quick enough. I'll have access next week so I can take pictures, then I'll tidy up the thread.
Pm with any enquiries..

Somone could turn this round easy with a new loom and take the old alarm out, but you'd need to be a dab hand at wiring

:nonod: Nah fixing the wiring shouldn't require a "Dab Hand" it should be easy, and if it's a section of loom that can be replaced is "plug and play" it could even be fixed in a matter of minutes! :yesnod:

Hi Really?

If you are breaking your car, I notice you have clear indicators. I am after a drivers side one. Do you still have them?

Regards

Chris
