I would be concerned as to why it went bang before you replace the tank
I would ask the question in the pitstop section.

We're not sure why but we're having a family friend (who also happens to be an old mg/rover mechanic) come to take a look soon so he may find something else.
We're hoping it was just a problem with the tank/cap though!

I would imagine it probably was a faulty cap but best to be sure.
