Coupla things needed.
Tonight leaving work noticed something hanging down from the back box, gave it a pull and it came off in my hand?? Seems to be some sort of metal strap going round the off side of the box, box still seems pretty solid and isnt moving. Any ideas ?
Also my handbrake isnt working just goes up and down, am led to believe it might need the cable adjusted. Anyone who is willing to show me how it is done will bw greatly rewarded with tea and lots of gratitude, maybe some beer vouchers
I also have a mint oem windstop, no fittings, if you are looking for a replacement and know how to fix my handbrake we could do a deal ?????
Am located in Brighton, any offers gratefully accepted.
Also have some chrome windscreen washer thingys if you are looking fo some.

the strap most certainly does go round the back box and some people dont bother with it so I wouldnt worry about it too much
There is a great section with how too's there must be one on adjust handbrakes, there is loads of stuff if you click on the orange tab on the left handside with the little spanner "How To" :broon:
see here for handbrake adjustment

First thing I bought was a stainless steel exhaust strap off ebay, then went to my local tyre place.
They fitted it and didnt want any payment, I was so shocked I gave them £10 for their Xmas party!!!

There is a little metal strap thing on the OEM box, mine also has this but not really sure if it does anything. Does not appear to be connected to anything but ill try and get a look at lunch. If the box is still secure though, I wouldn't worry too much at the moment.
Handbrake, this could be a case of cable adjustment, worn pads, worn disks, both pads and disks worn or the handbrake mechanism in the brakes not working. If the handle is not bouncing back up and putting the brake light on as you drive, it may be a case of things needing adjusting, but check the pads and disks first. If they are worn, replace them before adjusting the cable as you will only have to do it all again later.
Remember the cable can be adjusted under the cubby hole box (easy to remove and look at the cable) and at the brakes themselves. If in doubt, get it looked at at a trusted garage

The strap helps to stabilise the cat and reduces stress on the flexi pipe. You can live without it, but for the cost of replacement...
The strap actually fits over a grooved section on the cat bracket. You can see that in the bottom photos, above.
The handbrake is a common problem. You need to approach the problem from the callipers first. Are the little handbrake levers on the callipers moving. If they have seized/partly seized then you can tighten up the cables as much as you want, and all you'll achieve are stratched cables. Get someone to check the levers on the callipers as you work the main handbrake lever in the cabin.
Check out the how tos as suggested, there's a lot of info on the handbrake in there.

I've had my xpower on without the strap for a few month and not noticed anything bad yet (until it falls off then)
