Hi everyone,
Moving house shortly and also holidaying abroad (need some warmth). The MGF will have to be stored outside for a couple of months. Can anyone recommend a good waterproof cover either full car or just the roof to keep it dry? Or does anyone have one for sale?
Thanks Hoppy

One of the cars we viewed before Christmas had been stored under a cheap non-breathable cover...it had caused the paint to start bubbling on the boot, and probably elsewhere too had we looked closely.
Definitely one of the 'you get what you pay for items' in life.

Do you know any friends with a spare spot in a garage, or friendly farmers with space in a shed or barn???
If it's not going to be for long, have you thought about rented storage units, some places have offers on the the moment and they may work out cheaper than a cover, with the advantage of your car being secure and insured???
just a thought! ;)

I bought a cheapo hood area cover off Amazon and tweaked it a bit just to see if it helped keep the rain out - and it works! So I am buying 10 meters of Waterproof fabric off eBay and am going to make a proper one.

Hopefully will have made it by the end of next week! Oh and it's body coloured so should look cool too.....

Just to revive this thread - I have been sewing away (and had to buy a new sewing machine too!) getting my cover sorted.

Anyway tomorrow I will add the final bits and take some photos. It covers the whole top, back and front screens and side windows, plus the wing mirrors. I also made it so that it clasps itself to the bodywork with magetic strips. Oh and covers the vents under the windscreen and wing tops as I am sure water was working it's way in there too somehow!!

I will post a few 'not yet finished' pics:

Here is my fancy stitching -

And here it is laid out (terrible pic!) -

It's finished! As I go away for almost three weeks tomorrow it will have a good test too!

Here are the pics:

As you can see it is cotton material but it has a waterproof rear face and the front face is also waterproof...... you can see the water balling on the boot area (with fancy stitching! LOL). I still have tonnes of material left as well....

Well done Adam, great looking cover.

I bought a full size cheapish one for about £45 off ebay. When I came to remove it this weekend I found the car covered in small scratches all over the wings and bonnet. I could have died.

Adam if you want to make me one like yours, colour is great I'll gladly pay you for it.

I have to say i'm thinking of making them. Problem is with the cost of the material, and the hours it takes to make, I reckon it might be 50 to 75 quid! What do people think? I saw a basic black on on eBay for less than £50 but it doesnt cover the mirrors etc.

Also I have to investigate colour availability - I think I was just REALLY lucky with how well the colour matched nighfire....
