Hi all,
As my car has slipped off it's jack and got wedged up against my garage wall I urgently need to buy/borrow ANY wheel that'll fit an MGF, spare, knackered, steel, bald/illegal tyre, doesn't matter, it's only to move the the car a few feet......

I'm located in Bedfordshire, of course if somebody can lend me a spare for half a day they will be rewarded with a few beer tokens!

Regards,
Andy

I can lend you one I bought off you - could pop up tomorrow morning whilst the wife is at work if that helps?

Now I've got the emergency reassembly of both sides of the rear of the car! :(

Better get cracking! Only got 6" of space on the OS of the car, also sustained a massive injury to the OSR sill and wing :(

That's really crap news Andy .. :( .... but could've been much worse if you'd been working under it at the time ...

At least you've still got all your limbs intact to carry out the repairs. ;)

I hate working under the car for that very reason and my drive is all slopes, there is no flat area.:nonod:

When I was doing the hydragas/suplex change, I had the front off the ground on two axle stands, but needed the back raised too.

So I put the trolley jack under the back centre lift point and raised it preparatory to putting two more axle stands under the back. I turned away to pick up the axle stands, turned back to see the car slide sideways off the jack and overturn the two front axle stands.

That was very sobering! :pinch:

Also good fun trying to lift the car on a scissor jack to try to extract the trolley jack and axle stands...

Thanks for the kind words guys....

.... Also my nicely organised pile of nuts and bolts for the entire rear of the vehicle has been upset, so gone to start putting the back end together and no bloody idea what goes where :(

Very true though, at least I wasn't under it.....

.... and of course, what was I doing?

This is the space I've got left to work in :(

Plus side, tons of room on the near-side!

Ideally you need to get a pair of dollys under there Andy, then you can position the car exactly as you need it.

Is there a local toolmart hire place nearby that you could lease them from?

All sorted cheers buddy, a MASSIVE thank you to Ocado Man (John) who banged on my door a little while a go with a spare wheel to borrow, so generous, and I will be forever in his debt!

The car is back upright again, sans a fair chunk of its OSR sill, (it was clearly rotten, I just tore it all off with my hands) so I will be needing to dig the welder out in due course methinks!

I realised it was getting dark and futile to chase a load of nuts and bolts around the garage floor, so I thought I'd quickly fit the exhaust manifold I've recently bought in preparation for shunting the car in and out of the garage (I'd removed and scraped the factory one). I've also refitted the sump after fitting the sump baffles supplied by Quick-Spider, filled with oil, and just turned the engine over....

Suddenly noticed massive oil slick approaching me....

..... Who forgot to put the sump plug back in?! :bang:

...Shut garage door, not touching anything else today!

We have some dollies at work I may borrow for final "shunting" though, we used them for moving GRP kiosks around, so hopefully they'll work with a MGF!

Mogatrons, do you have some Mogadons I can borrow?! ;)

Andy
