TPS Connector plug

I fitted a 52mm throttle body this morning but managed to drop the spring clip from the TPS connector and it's disappeared into a black hole somewhere.

I thought I might have got away with it because the TPS reset fine and the test drive was great. But when I got back home the idle was all over the place hovering between 500 and 700rpm. On inspection the TPS connector had become dislodged. Reconnected and all was well again with idle at 800rpm. It looks as though I will need to replace the clip or secure the connector some other way.

So, has anyone got a spare clip that will fit this connector that they could send on to me?

Robin

This is the best I can do by way of a picture, sorry

Robin ;)

Those retaining spring clips are a standard size and found on all sorts of cars, when I go to the wreckers (breakers) yard I often grab a few as I walk past.

I lost my clip off the ambient air temperature sensor (see the video below). Anyway, it worked fine without it. Maybe, if it's the same type of clip, you could use that one. ;)

You're supposed to release these spring clips by pushing them in rather than removing them from the plug. :yesnod:
I know that doesn't help now, but in the interim try taking the one off the ambient air temp plug and fit it to the TPS plug as Leigh suggests. :broon:

Thanks all for the helpful suggestions.

I'll give Leigh's suggestion a shot and then try to source a connector from a local scrappy.

I don't really know what I was thinking, prising the clip out. I'm sure I knew that you have to push them in

Heat of the moment I suspect :nonod:
