They also don't insist you order a packet of 10! Came to about £30 for 5x of each. Will measure dimensions and add them in here as there appear to be some standard sizes.
A litte more on the wiring:
There's a Green/Slate wire which is the feed for the controls. This goes to the fusebox (connector is behind so you'll have to unbolt it to get at it properly). You'll probably find there's already a wire there, so just join onto it.
Once this is wired in, the recirc will work - press the button and you'll hear the motor moving the flap inside the evaporator.
There are 6 wires running to the back of the car:
4x into small ECU plug (MEMS3)
1x into another body/engine loom connector so it can go into the large ECU plug
1x Compressor Clutch
To add wires into MEMS3 connector, you need to slide the 2 white bits sideways. Now you can push the blanking grommits out with a small screwdriver
Once you've done this you can slide the new pins into place. The best way to get extra pins is to disassemble a spare connector (I have plenty of these from metro engine conversion looms)
Since I'm not changing my engine loom, I've pushed the 4x connectors into the small ECU plug (as this is part of the body loom)
The connection for the large plug I'l just add in with a spade/bullet connector inline for when I need to drop the engine.
Same for the clutch wire - rather than integrate with the engine loom, I'll just run the wire around the top of the engine bay.

Posted 12 years 2 months ago #68841Removed the old alternator and brackets - best done from the top.
Bolt the compressor bracket to the block - make sure both dowels are there.
Attach the first pipe:
Loom Extension for alternator connection - it's a little crude, but it works. Will probably get some extra heatshrink over it:
Pipe routing - with hindsight I should have changed the oil filter before putting them in.

Posted 12 years 2 months ago #68843Use the existing pipe clips for the smaller pipe:
Unbolt the coolant pipes to clip in the large pipe:
Adjust the tensioner:
Add the heat shield back on the exhaust.
When I fit my 4-2-1 I'll look at heat wrapping the exhaust or putting better heat sheilds in as I know the alternator bearings don't like lots of heat.
Still to do:
Replace the o-rings at the front end.
Double check how the fan wiring works on the MGF wiring
Fill th System with refridgerant
Check it all works!
Finish Jack of Hearts engine wiring loom

All O-Rings done - although I still need to measure some up and put the sizes here for reference.
Fan works on the MGF wiring in parallel with the existing fan wiring - the existing fan connector (when switched by the existing relay) supplies power to the fan relay pack/switching circuits.
On the TF it's stand alone and has an extra fusebox feed.
JoH now has his AC looms so hopefully he can add to the guide.
I had mine gassed up a couple of weeks ago and it all worked, so I took the car to Italy to test it - 2500 miles later it's still working:

I've bought a complete air con system for my F, which I will be installing over the winter.
By any chance do you have that list of O-ring sizes that re needed?

First Post, only got my TF160 last week !
Just found a dismantler stripping a same year TF with aircon, he has taken off all the parts for me, but is unsure what wiring I will need for my retro-fit.
Can anyone give me a definitive list , he is 160 miles away , so I would like to get it right.
What mods will be needed to my existing harness, or will it bhe plug and play with the extra A/C harnesses ?
