Front Wheel Bearing
Hi folks, I am looking to change my front wheel bearings on my 2001 mgf and looking for any pointers including pictures. Can any one help. I have the new bearings, just need to fit them.

You'll need a hydraulic press to change the wheel bearings.It's not really a diy job, tbh. Taking the hubs off and visiting an engineering workshop is probably the cheapest option. :yesnod:

Thanks guys, had the mgf for a couple of years and been lucky. Now time to get my hands dirty. I'm they are fun to work on.

Ok guys. First issue, I can't get the nut to come of the hub. Tried everything inc extension bars. There was a mention of a locking key but I cant see one. Any ideas great fully appreciated.

there isn't a locking key, instead the centre of the nut is hammered (staked) into the stub axle. You just tap it out using a punch and hammer. Doesn't matter if you damage it as it will be replaced as part of the hub kit.
I managed to press the bearing out with a 2 ton bottle jack and a frame made out of unistrut and a couple of large sockets. Then removed the centre of the bearing from the stub axle very carefully with an angle grinder.

Thanks mate, managed to remove the nut now. Just needed an even longer bar
