Sorry to drag up an old thread but I would be tempted to make it 3/4 of a wave lenght. Converting to 1/2 wave will throw out the impedence, so to get the full performance you would need to add a matching system, all though this does not matter too much for recieving you should get even better performance by going to a 3/4 wave. Ideally a matched 5/8th wave would be even better.

For us stupid ones, what length of wire would you suggest?
Home to black Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 V6 Q4 ,green MGF VVC and red MG Maestro T16.

What a magnificent bit of radio theory ( a treat for all of us radio hams) , god -we will be on to Standing Wave Ratio's in UHF transmission lines next.
Unfortunately I have a TF mk2 with SCU and Pektron fob (no aerial ) -the only way to alter this one is to dig inside the SCU and track down the UHF transmission chip and its thin film wave guide .
