MGF Mk1 power window switches.
On the mk1 MGF the window switches are removed by first removing the small panel they share with other various push button ancillary switches.
This panel needs to be carefully prised out of the dash/console
Then the electrical connector blocks need to be removed from the window switches.
Then the switches should just press out of the panel.
Carefully pry the back of the switch away from the body using a small flat blade screwdriver.
Inside the switch, there are 2 metal strips that rock on pivots on the back of the switch.
These make contact with the contact pad of the terminals directing the current as dictated by the position of the switch.
These pads and the contact points of the strips get dirty and often burnt.
The contact points of the strips can be gently cleaned with some emery or a small file. Be careful, don't bend these strips.
The contact pads of the terminals will need cleaning too, 2 of them are easy to get at the other two are bloody awkward due to the location of the led. You just have to scratch about under the LED with a small screwdriver.
Check the pins in the rocker are free to slide in their sockets against the springs.
Reassemble the switch, taking care to make sure the contact strips are in place and in the correct orientation.

Nice one! :broon:
Incidentally the mk2/TF switches are identical. The only difference is the method of removal. For the later setup, removing the triangular kick panels and pushing the switches out from behind works well. :yesnod:

Actually the MGF Mk2/TF power window switches are different.
They fit the same hole and work on the same principle but are a totally different design, share no parts and use a different connector block to the Mk1.
The Mk1 switch is on the left
