He did the voice overs in the background ... didnt know he had a name though.
(My Dad was a Country & Western fan. I think I've some Jennings LPs still kicking around here somewhere.)

Waylon Jennings not only wrote and performed the theme song for The Dukes of Hazzard, but he narrated the show every week appearing on the credits as “The Balladeer”
The cars used were 1968/69 Chargers. Yes they did get through an awful lot of cars, 256 according to the the General Lee wiki site .
The 'first' car LEE1 was a 1969 Charger.
