Many of you are old hands at soft top motoring however we may have people on here who are new to this wonderful world of roof off driving. I thought it prudent to make a list of does and don'ts.....................

Remember a soft top is not good at sound deadening. Do not wolf whistle and say nice 'bottom' when you see one, you will be heard!

Number 1 is very important to remember when traveling with your partner by your side. Failure to remember number 1 in this situation can lead to it all going dark.......

On arrival home, for goodness sake remember to turn the volume of your stereo down BEFORE erecting the soft top. Failure to observe this safety point can lead to temporary deafness.

There is nothing to beat driving along the lanes on an early spring morning, roof off, listening to the birds sing, however remember our feathered friends have bottoms and can inflict severe damage on your ego and interior.

You will be very aware of many admiring glances when out and about in your wonderful 'new' sports car. Just remember it is very important to learn how to slide off the seat and into the foot well in order to hide. This is because will be a time when you stall your car, at traffic lights, outside a pub with a beer garden next to the road, that is crammed full with admiring on lookers.

When you get caught in a down pour with the roof flat, water is running off your nose and cascading down your back, remember just how happy your predicament is making all the other motorists around you. It may help.

If you are sat enjoying a drink on a hot summers evening and a sudden thunder storm strikes, you may find it better to stand with the rest of the punters watching your car fill up with water rather than being struck by lightening has you sprint across the beer garden.

If transporting your dog remember to fit them with a seat belt or restraint of some kind. It will not do your street cred any good to be seen leaping from your car and chasing Rover down the road.

Fitting a sun roof to the soft top is both difficult and unnecessary.

Finally, when exiting the vehicle after it has snowed, ensure you have a large piece of plastic sheeting on you lap. You will be subjected to a mini avalanche when you open the door.

Have fun all :)
