I have them all, but I only use IE9.
To prove a point to myself I have just opened 50 webpages simultaneously without issue. I've a fast PC with an SSD (solid state drive - boots up and is online in 17 seconds). But I'm not sure that helps particularly when just browsing. My page load times are in the 0.30's, 0.40's mostly. Although, I'm not entirely convinced with those figures.
That doesn't solve any problems yet, I know. However, it's being discussed at an administrative level to see if there are any options for change.
I knocked up these videos of me surfing around the site to show the load times. At 02:22 I opened approx 50 tabs on the webpage. You have to right click it and select 'watch on youtube', then select the big screen if you want to view/read the times displayed. They're pretty boring I know

IE 9 on the Toshiba took about 0.6 seconds to load a page and Chrome about 0.55 seconds.
IE8 and Chrome on the AspireOne both took around 1.2 seconds to actually load the page BUT there was a distinct lag of several seconds before IE8 started loading the page.
I suspect that there may be a particular problem with IE8 but the page loading times are what I would regard as normal and the site does not seem particularly slow to me.

Posted 12 years 9 months ago #39404These modules do add to the load time but the added features are more than worth it, in my opinion. :broon:
Add to that that we don't charge a subscription means that in terms of value The-T-Bar.com punches way above its weight.
We hope to keep the site cost free for members but any donations will be put straight into developing the site.
(There is a discrete DONATE button at the bottom of the page :yesnod: ) - and you get a nice medal under your avatar.

Posted 12 years 9 months ago #39410But it could be to do with your battery saving settings, as these can be set to extend battery life at the expense of computing power. :yesnod:

Whatever, we have a lot of goodies going on at the T-Bar. Lots of pics, videos, your own albums, quizzes, discussions, tons of guides and a help section, an international membership etc etc. These things took time to get together and they continue to grow, as does our membership. Another factor is that we welcome guests browsing the site. Many of which have joined up later. Even if only to have some fun in our quizzes.
All these elements will lead to a slightly slower equation, even on the fastest computer. Most of us are pretty savvy when it comes to PC stuff these days. But if you need some help speeding up an older pc then I recommend having a look here. Click these words for help. Just don't go buying any of it.
If you are seriously computer illiterate and are having trouble with a pc, I'm prepared to remote connect and help you if I can. PM me if you need this help. Don't be put off by me mooching around your pc. I won't bite too hard. Muahahahaa.
It's best if you have a modern PC and operating system though. XP was ok in it's day. But windows 7 is a lot better.. and vista sucks the life from a computer system before you even get online. Whatever the problem is, the good part is we're always prepared to try and help you out. :broon:

Posted 12 years 8 months ago #44521There is a certain time each hour, I think, when the forum is all backed up and if you happen to catch this time you can get slow loads.
The above might be up to 99% rowlocks, as I am desperately trying to remember a conversation I had with Simon 6-7 months ago.
