I know some of you have or have had Freelanders and may be able to help... so before I make a tit of myself and ask on the Freelander forums - could anyone help identify a couple of things please...


There's a switch here, well half a switch and I've no idea what should be there or what it does - any ideas?

And there's a rather large plastic box in the pax footwell, is it just part of the heater or something else?

That was my first thought, but there's no aircon controls... unless of course they tried to retro fit and only got as far as adding a bloody great big box in the pax footwell and then gave up :lol:

On the other Freelanders I've seen with aircon, there are 2 switches (recirc and aircon) but these are on the RH side of the console where I just have blanks there...

It looks like a blank for upgrade here Jan. Is it able to be switched on in your truck? Maybe it was upgraded with something?

Hmm maybe it is just a blank with the cap missing then. I don't think it's got any upgrades, well certainly none that I've found yet.

I've not looked too closely at it yet to see if there are any innards to the switch, I'll have a poke around in there tomorrow and see what I find :yesnod:

Switch should have a blank on it.

I've had 3 of them in various levels of trim and can't remember a button being in there!!

The box in the passenger footwell is the pollen filter housing if I remember rightly.

Also, have a look under bumper at near side front (passenger side) there should be a small pipe poking through a hole there.

If its there you have a engine pre heater which warms the engine up quicker in very cold weather.

Yes mine has that as in recirc and aircon, I also found a big black box under the passenger seat, it was a 6 track cd thing :oops:

I will take a photo tomorrow of mine for you, did you not get a manual thing with it ?
No good to me, but you are usually on the ball :P

Have you found the box under the rear carpet yet ;)

If you have a 3dr don't put wot valuable in there like a 10 disc multichanger as they're prone to filling with water!! :whistle:
