After being involved wit it security at government level for many years (which is still surprisingly lax in many areas and stupidly secure in others), I have my email set up to show the proposed link followed by the actual link straight after. Of they don't match up properly, into the bin they go.
Best advise I can give is never click a link in an email, where money and accounts are involved ALWAYS start a browser and type the address you are going to. That way you know for sure you are going to the right place

Odd thing is it works every time...
So many accounts that I never knew I had with this combination, I should be rich.
If you click on a link and are unsure if its real or not, close the browser, or make up an email address and password with suitable words to express your feelings and opinions.

I bought sweat pants and a hoodie from the House of Frazer at the cost of £190 two weeks back with my paypal account.
Someone down south managed to guess my password and knew my username.I spotted it straight away when the transaction email arrived from paypal .I've never owned a hoodie or sweatpants let alone shopped at the House of Frazer.
Quick log in password change and phone call to paypal confirmed that it was bogus.I've just got the money back into my current account almost two weeks later. :bang:
The guy at paypal says change your password often.

My advice is check to see if the same message is in 'my messages' inbox on ebay:
If an email originates from eBay, a copy will always appear in the ‘my messages’ folder in your eBay.
If you receive a suspicious email from eBay, it is always best to login to the eBay site (NOT through any links in the email) and check if the same email is available in your ‘my messages’. If it is not, it’s deffo a spoof.
