You shouldn't need to rev to stop her stalling 
Does she sit and tick over OK
And don't worry about the long term, they are a lot tougher than some make out and as long as you keep her serviced and looked after you should not have any problems :yesnod:

Take that with a grain of salt. People complain when things are going wrong, but for the most part when they are going well they don't post about it. Like Jan said, if you keep up with the maintenance you will head off many of the problems and you can learn from other people's mistakes on the forums.
