It's time to realise that just because you and your pro-unionist media lackeys say something doesn't actually make it true.
Glasgow Rangers are an ex-football club..... just like Third Lanark.

I can claim it is because society are happy to pay a footballer, in one month, 10 times what a nurse who cares for peoples lives etc gets paid in a year.
I could claim it is because it has become such a huge money making exercise to siphon off money from normal people, from ticket fees, TV rights, to changing the design of their must have shirts every couple of weeks.
I could even claim it is because the position of a football team seems to depend on how much money they have and what foreign players they can buy. I love the fact that some comentators can't even pronounce half the names.
However, the plain truth is, I just hate it and can't even stay in a room if it is on.
Maybe it is a phobia. I am OK with spiders etc, but not footballers.

I feel that way about golf and cricket, Clive. ... I'd rather be sat in a dentist chair than subject to those 'sports'.
To be clear, I totally agree with your points about money and football ... most true football fans do. ... sadly it's been monetarised like so many sports, and that brings good and bad.
... but I find the game itself is a joy to play and to watch. :yesnod:
Do you enjoy playing team sports Clive, like rugby or volleyball or suchlike?

The only sports I like are shooting and things with engines in, but even then, I find being a spectator boring.
Beach volleyball has a certain appeal. :yesnod:

Nah Jeff, The Rangers Football Club goes on now then and forever. Sevco was just a little temporary name
Admin would do Hearts some good if it meant getting rid of Romanov.

Adi suggested that I join up. I have to say, it's nice to be on a forum where you are not scared to read a PM incase it's an infraction
I haven't been to a game recently. I was going to buy 2 season tickets and use them where I could but for other reasons I had to leave it the now. Hope to get to a game soon. I did the Ibrox tour a few weeks ago and had lunch in the Argyle House Restaurant. Both tour and lunch were excellent.
Stirling game should be good - THAT IS WHERE RANGERS WILL BE CELEBRATING 140 YEARS OF HISTORY JEFF

Let's look at how the SFA interpreted the rules for the Scottish cup earlier this month ...
Gordon Jonhston for Wordpress wrote:
Tomorrow sees the third round of the Scottish Cup, or the William Hill Scottish Cup as I suppose I should call it to give the sponsors their due. Sixteen ties between Scotland’s smaller clubs will take place to see who makes it through to the fourth round draw, where they will be joined by Scotland’s top sixteen clubs from last season.
But the crucial question that should be asked by serious students of Scottish football is perhaps not an obvious one. It is “Who are Livingston playing in the third round?”
Why is this so important?
Well, have a look at last year’s First Division table. We see that Livingston finished the season in fifth place. Now let’s look at the regulations for this year’s Scottish Cup.
Round Three
The clubs which, in the previous season, were members of The Scottish Premier League and those clubs finishing in The Scottish Football League First Division league positions one to four, shall be exempt from playing in Round Three of the Competition.
So Livingston should be playing in the third round, right?
Well, no. They have a bye and will enter the competition in the fourth round. But why?
The answer is quite simple. One of the clubs that finished in the top sixteen last season no longer exists. The former Rangers Football Club is now in liquidation and is no longer a Scottish league club.
The spare place in the Scottish leagues was taken by new club “The Rangers” who joined in the bottom tier. And as a third division club they came into this year’s Scottish Cup in the second round. A narrow 1 – 0 win over non-league Forres Mechanics saw them progress and they now have a third round tie against higher league opponents in Alloa Athletic to look forward to.
Now if, as some erroneously claim, “The Rangers” is in fact the same football club as the former Rangers FC, would this be case? Well, no. If the two were indeed the same then, as the rules make clear, a bye to the fourth round would have been secured. And Livingston would have been in the draw for the third round rather than having a weekend off.
So there you are. Proof according to the SFA, which runs the Scottish Cup, that “The Rangers” are not the same football club as former SPL club Rangers FC.
QED as they say. Quod erat demonstrandum.
Now lets look at the law:
The Law says:
Section 216 of The Insolvency Act 1986 - Phoenix Company - Reuse of prohibited name
Phoenix Company Insolvency Law
Where a phoenix company is set up following the liquidation of the original company, there are strict legal rules concerning the re-use of the liquidated company's name which is classed in law as a "prohibited name". Phoenix company law is set out at Sections 216 and 217 of The Insolvency Act 1986 and the exceptions to those Sections are found in The Insolvency Rules 1986.
Section 216 of The Insolvency Act 1986 addresses the reuse of company name aspect of phoenix companies and states (word for word):
(1) This section applies to a person where a company ("the liquidated company") has gone into insolvent liquidation on or after the appointed day and he was a director or shadow director of the company at any time in the period of 12 months ending with the day before it went into liquidation.
(2) For the purposes of this section, a name is a prohibited name in relation to such a person if:-
(a) it is a name by which the liquidating company was known at any time in the period of 12 months,
The Rangers is not Glasgow Rangers
So my ex-Glasgow Rangers fans ..... you can CLAIM that they still exist ... You can QUOTE SOMEONE WHO HAS NO SAY ON THE MATTER. ( Charles Greens interpretation of Lord Nimmo Smith is not a direct quote, merely his spin on what was said....) .....
but the LAW and the SFA are quite explicit;
Glasgow Rangers no longer exist.
.... except in your minds.
