OK, it's not an MG F or TF and arguably not a sports car... OK so it's a Rolls Royce and mummy & daddy must have been well off but just consider the value for money taken over the life time of the car! An article sent to me by a friend.

Richard

MAN OWNED & DROVE THE SAME CAR FOR 82 YEARS

They certainly don't make them like that anymore.

This man Owned & Drove the same car for 82 YEARS.

Can you imagine even having the same car for 82 years!

"How Long Have You Owned a Car?"

Mr. Allen Swift ( Springfield , MA.) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Piccadilly-P1 Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928.

He drove it up until his death last year.....at the age of 102 !!!

He was the oldest living owner of a car that was purchased new.

Just thought you'd like to see it.

It was donated to a Springfield museum after his death.

It has 1,070,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed and is in perfect cosmetic condition. (82 years). That's approximately 13,048 miles per year (1087 per month)...

1,070,000 that's miles - not kilometres!!

That's Best British engineering of a bygone era.

I don't think they make them like that any more.

1.8i Mk2 Solar Red, 16 inch square spoke wheels, MGFMania hood with zip-in glass rear window, DRLs, Kmaps ECU, Pipercross panel air filter, MGOC Supersports back box & some cockpit bling

:omg: 1,070,000 miles :omg:
and we thought Wriggly was doing well heading for 200,000!!!

What a wonderful story though !!!! :yesnod: I just hope they keep on driving the car now it belongs to the museum. The car obviously thrives on it and it would be so sad for it to sieze up through lack of use

RIP Mr Swift

This girl doesn't mind getting her hands dirty !!!

Seeing as he was from Springfield, it's lucky he wasn't called Montgomery Burns...
