Booking on-line with Halfords usually has a half price deal

I don't trust any of the big chains to be honest as the whole purpose of cut price mots is to generate work and it stems from when I was dumb enough to take up the offer of a free Kwikfit brake check where they found work that needed doing totaling £500 bear in mind that this was over 25 years ago and allowing for inflation that would be more like £2000 now I didn't have that sort of money and almost scrapped the car till a friend of a friend who was a mechanic checked it out and the only thing that needed doing straight away was a weeping cylinder which was done for £25

I totally agree about the big chains offering cheap MOTs. I got caught by one before I knew better. Cost me a new exhaust system and then they wanted to fit two new brake callipers. At that point I blew my 'head gasket', told them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine and stormed off.
I always go to Peter Allison now(see my recommendation). OK it's full price, but he is honest.:broon:

I use National and currently it's £27.

I know that they wont look for stuff to do to it because they know I do all my own work anyway.

The bloke has said that I can use their gas anyliser any time I want too which is handy with my current emissions problem...

I found someone local I can trust. He always charges full price and has failed my cars in the past. He knows I do my own servicing and repairs. Instead of touting for the work, he will call me over to the ramp and show me what the problem is.
