I have read that the 4G mobile phone signals when it is up and working properly will interfere with DAB signals so i would not invest in a DAB radio until we all know the outcome and severity of the problem and they say it could take up to 2018 for the 5G network to start rolling out before problems can be solved

Stay put then? But can't imagine that all the dab users would be binned off easily? I listen to music most of the time or the sound of the XPower lol :)

most new cars come with them so can't see problems in the future [or now] but will wait a bit

The main thing that will affect the quality of signal is the aerial choice I have had Dab in my Octavia for 3 years originally using a magmount roof aerial, I would describe the reception as average at best I have since changed to an external glass mount which I have mounted on the windscreen which has improved the reception greatly with very little dropout even though I live in an area which doesn't have a great signal

I've got a kenwood in my ZS, generally I get good reception using the O/E aerial and a DAB splitter.

I nearly bought the same set up for the F a few weeks ago as Halfords were offering the same Kenwood DAB41 for about £130 but I redescovered my autochangeer and couldn't justify it.

The trouble with radio signals, but what is especially true of DAB is will you get good signal where you plan to listen to it most?

Due to the all or nothing nature of digital radio you may find that driving in certain areas may yeild at best 'bubbling mud' or worst simply no reception.

If you live or mostly drive in areas served by a decent relay then you shouldn't have an issue but it might pay to check yourself with DAB reception with a portable or with friends etc.

DAB in cars has been grindingly slow to catch on; I believe the main reason is that is has a bit of a reputation for often not working :-( I would also wager that car manufacturers avoid it because they simply don't want the aggravation of thousands of "faulty" DAB tuners when Mr. Smith can't hear the Radio 4 LW repeat on DAB and misses his test match driving through the middle of bumf**k-nowhere....

Regards,
Andy

Found mine OK if I was sat on a transmitter. But poor otherwise. This was in a brand new car. Ended up switching back. :(
