My advice is to mount it as far back as possible to minimise kerb damage. :broon:

I was not satisified with the finish of the glassfibre moulding, cleaned off the rough edges, sprayed it with plastic primer, base coat and clear coat, i sprayed the underside with Dinitrol stonechip coating (black) looks a real professional job :woohoo:

Are these things fitted as fashion statements or do people really think that a bit of thin plastic will improve the aerodynamics of a tonne and a bit of Brummy designed car? If you claim that the "front feels more planted" .......aargh!

Ban imminent.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

I put faith in the design skills of the people who designed the car: maybe flawed in places. Air diversion devices have validity on aerodynamically flat bottomed cars: not bumpy bottomed sports cars with coolant pipes and sumps etc.

Pictures please matey, as I will be doing mine soon, just need to sray it up as I agree that it dosnt look its best but I do fancy leaving it Black
And John I will let you know what I think after fitting but I do feel the car is slighty vague at high speeds and general advice is the Splitter works !
Love the idea of fitting leds to it though .........

Regarding fixing, when I offered it up the front edge was not parallel to the ground, it angled up, I added a small wedge on the top of the central post to get the correct angle. I also spent time jiggling it into the best fit and cut an angle into the back edge of the central mounting post so it sat as far back as poss. For me the best position was about level with front of the car to get everything lined up. However, I think the quality of the moulding I got was poor and needed a lot of fettling, I have read of guys just offering up and bolting in place in 30 mins so you may be in a better position. Also I threw away the fixing kit and replaced with brand new set of SS bolts, nice big flat washers and Nyloc nuts.

I believe it makes a difference, although maybe only slight at 60 mph. I've noticed that the new VW CC has a splitter at the bottom of the front bumper. Doubt they would add it for on cosmetic reasons.
