"Hi Dad. Do you want the good news or bad news first?"

"Gimme the good news son."

"The exhaust dropped off moms' Peugeot."

"So what's the bad news?"

"The car's wrapped around a tree!"

"Have you got somewhere to stay tonight son?"

"Yes, I'm staying at my girlfriends house."

"That's a good idea right now!"

The car's a write off. I put it down to inexperience of driving in the snow, bad parenting and genetics. Kids.. who'd have em! :P

Look on the bright side that's one less French car to bewilder, frustrate and infuriate mechanics!

An excellent reason not to lend cars to offspring.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

I'm kinda glad in a way.. Glad he's ok and happy to get shot of the car. It was always cold, the radio had died and the wife just told me she saw mayo on the cap when topping the oil up yesterday. The tax and mot were up in a few days too. I'm glad this didn't happen after I'd done those two. So, I'll just get a little run around off ebay for now. :yesnod:

I'll be able to get around to my own car at some point hopefully. Deep joy. :P

It's the wife's car John. But with 3 of them on the insurance. Her, my lad (23) and my youngest daughter (24) who's away in uni but uses it when she comes home. He works in construction and they have a works flatbed Mercedes thing for that. So he rarely used the car. I've been using it whilst mine has been poorly. The good news is I get to pick the next banger now. But it has to be a small 1.4 or less engine for their insurance costs to be kept down. :yesnod:

Years back, Sue had new a 206. Let daughter#2 talk her into her boyfriend giving her a driving lesson in it.The cockwhisker claimed motor trader insurance etc etc. needless to say, load of bull. Net result: her foot slipped off the brake returning onto the drive and front wing banged bay window brickwork.
Car insurance and buildings insurance claim. Had to claim We caused the accident.

I told the little current that if I saw him again I'd part him from his breath. This is still working 13 years later.... Worth the damage to get rid of the little bum wad.

Never let any of 'em near any of our vehicles again.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Least the son walked away, thats all that matters. So thanks Peugeot.

Think its one of those things, have an accident when you are young and it makes you realise that you arnt Stirling Moss in my day, or Vettle now!!!

Managed to drive my MG Midget up and into a Vauxhall van. Taught me a lesson!!!

Just scrapped it for the weight value (hundred quid). It looked like the chassis had been twisted. Still, it's been a pretty good car for the past 3 years constant use, 120k on the clock, no issues. RIP. :pinch:

When I was a young bloke I wrote off a Peugeot 504 that was on loan from a car dealer, in a head-on with a mate's New Cortina. I was just a coincidence that we were traveling in opposite directions on the same road at the same time.
The ambulance officers a bit amazed that the two drivers from a head-on were joking about with each other on the way to hospital.
They hadn't had that before, they were more used to the blame game.

P.S. The car dealer wasn't a happy camper, but I did remind him that he'd said:
"Treat it as your own" :bust:
For some strange reason, I was "Persona Non Grata" after that!

To finish this story off. After a week of going blind looking at junk cars, rip offs and bangers I ended up buying this for the wife and kids (23, 24.. not allowed to mention the wife's age) :P

Drove it back from Doncaster / Rotherham area to home, 110 miles. It's surprisingly quick for a 1.2 and it'll do at least a ton (briefly on test). Anyway, she's happy now. Peace has returned. :yesnod:
