I think I'd be happier to be buying from within the Forum too. I have come to trust the opinions and the common sense of folks on here. And after all, if it is a sound car with good mechanics etc, I don't really care if it is an F - I had just never considered them before. I guess I had always been taught to buy as new as possible, and that is what turned my head.

Ain't it funny, how time slips away...?

Just had a look in the bargain basement thread - saw a silver one, and a dark blue from down around Kent. I don't have the skills to replace the head gasket so I'd have to be paying commercial rates to get the work done. Seems to me that would push the cost up dramatically, or am I just being too pessimistic (doomed...we're all doomed...)?

John Norris is doing head gasket repairs for 250 you'd have a good car for the money or it might be a lemon ? Sometimes spending a bit more at the start pays dividends in the f@#$ factor when you get a "oh no" moment my only other concern for you is that if your on a low income while studying your F / TF might be a cash cow on your money pot. My eBay activities have rocketed since purchasing the car and being goaded on here to buy bling and john n sue keep goog on about LEDs

Well, I guess that physical lack of money would mean that whatever F I buy will have to be happy to remain as I buy it till I can get back to working etc. The issue for me would be unexpected repairs, but if I let that be my guiding concern then I will never own either an F or a TF. Phil's car looks to be the business, and at least all that has been done to it is well documented on here. Any ideas what the annual insurance is for a 1.8? And the road tax?

I just checked out the five spoke VVC wheels and they look absolutely fine to me. The cream leather seats are also damn smart. By the way, my tongue keeps flopping onto the keyboard. I sent you a PM, Phil.
