I know it won't be everyone's cuppa, but I've been playing with walnut vinyl :)

I tried to do the centre surround, but I'm just not good enough at it :(

The finish looks really good :broon: , Like Carbon Fibre do you need to warm it up to go around corners?

Thanks :)

Yup, just the same, I used a £4 argos value hair dryer to warm it up.

Not to my taste but that looks really good! :broon:
Yeah the centre console is a nightmare to do. I did mine in black carbon fibre vinyl. It looks Ok as long as uou don't look too close. In walnut it would need a professional fitter, I think.

I echo David's sentiments: a very neat job indeed but not my thang.

Have a go at the console: you can always peel it off again if it all goes 'orribly wrong.
You seem to have dealt with the double curves on the cap ok.
Go for it! :broon:

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Good job! I think the one colour scheme that benefits from the vinyl 'wood' effect and chrome bits is yours.

Thanks for the comments chaps, and well I carried on, as advised, centre console still to do!

Does anyone know which tool I need to remove this type of head unit?

Thanks

Looking good. You have a real talent for doing this kind of thing.

Ain't it funny, how time slips away...?

Until I read Simons comment I never suspected that it was anything other than solid wood inserts. I think they look really great and will be quite eye catching once you've finished. The pics are appreciated. :broon:

If you decide to do the binnacle as well, this guide might help.

The head unit will come out with the centre console. The cage is attached to the front piece of the console.
If you pull out the centre air vent you can see the stereo and the push fittings holding the console in.
You also need to take off the gear surround.

I agree: very neat work indeed: the overall effect is quite pleasant I must admit.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

I am not a big fan of light car interiors but love the walnut. There is something about wood (or faux wood) in a british sports car that feels just right
