Opened cards: 2 cards out of 5 offspring: about average.
Have cut the grass.
Sun is shining (amazingly)
Top down run to Derby to buy a Cabbage Patch doll for granddaughters birthday.
Visit our dads graves via winding lanes for Fathers Day. Place some roses from the garden.
We call it the Dead Dad run.
Country pub for late lunch/early tea. And beer. For me. Cranberry juice for the GM.
Chauffeured home by Ginger Midget Transport Services plc.
More beer sitting in the garden (rain permitting)
Works for me! Simple pleasures.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Lots of Tequila and a bag of limes on hand for later when we will be remembering our own Dead Dads.
My birth father died in a road accident 10 days before I was born, June 16 is my late Step-Dad's birthday and also the date of my Father-in-Law's passing seven years ago so we will be having a drink to them all.

Davem wrote: Why is fathers day on a different date in Aust? early Sept here.
It goes back to the postage delay between Britain and Oz.
Originally both dates were the same.
It used to take about 15 months to sail to the Antipodes in the 18th century. Fact.
When the burglars, bread thieves, prostitutes and murderers wanted to send cards to their familial former cellmates who had already been transported to Oz, in order to establish the Australian Nation.....they would arrive late.
So the date was moved to September down under, so cards would arrive on the right day, but a year and a bit late.
Hope this helps.
