I see Andy Watson has posted on org. that Daryl has ceased trading.
Apparently his expertise wasn't sufficient to live up to his ambitions, but a shame never the less.
A genuine nice guy that probably needed more management experience, plus a fully trained MG mechanic.
We all know he had family problems but also had a vision to keep mgf/tf's on the road.
Tried to run before he could walk, but I wish him luck in the future.

Being new to the mgf tf scene I thought mgf reborn must have been the experts on the cars when I read what services they provided and the price they charged for the re born cars.
It only in recent days that I've heard that they have been turning out less than satisfactory results.
It sounds like some people have been paying top dollar and like in the case of andywatson have ended up with some rough looking cars, that aren't even safe.
On paper mgf reborn looked like a company I would have trusted with my car, but now after seeing some reactions to there work it seems they've bitten off more than they can chew.
It's a shame because if a company existed that could deliver everything that mgf reborn promised it would have been a gift to us.
It really is a shame to see the hopes and aspirations of mgf reborn finished.

I agree. It's a shame to see the number of specialist garages/suppliers decrease.
As our cars get older these businesses become more important.

Someone was looking at the level of my build the other day and suggested I start in business doing MGF restorations..

My car has about 10k worth of physical parts in it.. And if I charged £35 an hour the labour bill would be £70k+

Show me some one who will spend £80k on an MGF/TF and I'll jack in my 'real job' tomorrow

I'm not saying my car is the best.. Far from it.. But I do think its probably the most modified and most extensively restored F/TF out there

I wish Daryl all the very best for the future :hugs:

I also wish Daryl all the best for the future in what ever line of work he does, he is a genuinely nice man. We do thankfully still have a lot of genuine specialists out there such as Jon Norris, Russell Walsh, Mike Stafford (MJS) Steve Tyler (British Legends), Dave Alkins etc.

Thankfully my car is now in tip top condition thanks to MJS Auto & Marine in Worthing, British Legends in Southend and of course Swindon's own Mr Destroyer, although I don't think he knows anything, just an amateur. Lol

That's a shame, the announcement the other week on a cheaper subframe treatment was interesting and something many would have looked at but it they are gone, then I guess that's it.

Luckily local to me there is MG Lifestyle who I keep meaning to get in touch with about a few things, but I'll wait to see what happens first regarding Daryl.

It is a huge shame as any enterprise that offers the community a service should be encouraged and supported.

This is what put us in a really bad place and meant we had to make a difficult decision. MGF Reborn has been with us a long time and was a sponsor for the site. We saw potential and the services that were being offered were exciting for the community.

Unfortunately, we were starting to get more and more feedback from customers that we just couldn't ignore. It got to a point where we had to consider the forum members and their faith in the forum and who we recommended. Even if a garage was top notch, when negative feedback gets to a certain point you have to consider listening to your members.

We are not passing judgement on MGF Reborn or anyone associated with it but felt that we couldn't keep both sides happy and had to choose.

I do respect Daz for what he tried to accomplish. It does take a lot of risk to go from talking about something to actually doing it. I also think his vision and passion may see him rise again once he has overcome the problems he has encountered and if the quality and customer service warrants it I would have no qualms in recommending him again in the future.

I see the story from both sides however both Andy and Daz have had a rough ride out of this one. Andy's car has had some faults but Andy decided to take Daz's money. I'm not a trouble causing kind but think that the bad rep and spreading of this story in all the sites isnt really fair to Daz when Andy took the refund to end the dispute.

His dream is over and such a shame to the community but I see a few 'gloat' stories appear and people jumping on the band wagon.

Unfortunately this statement could not be less accurate, Nobody's got what they wanted, The money I accepted nowhere near covers the cost of putting the car right. The problem is I actually got off lightly, I have seen cars come out of MGF Reborn in far worse condition than mine, I am only thankful that a lot of my work was farmed out and that work is of a good standard.
All anyone wanted was for their pride and joy to be repaired/restored to the standard promised. A business doesn't close because of one complaint, Daz has gone out of business due to numerous complaints. So when you say everyone got what they wanted you could not be more wrong.

I think you've shot yourself in the foot then Andy. If you wasnt happy then why take the money? I would have gone back until you were happy as accepting the money looks like you are accepting it. Sometimes the long game is needed to get the end result necessary.
