I can vouch for the fact that a splitter fitted on a mk.1 "F", gives better handling at speed & stops the car wandering :yesnod:
John, as you have a TF, you would not know the problem. As you say they are dead easy to fit. I used SS nuts & bolts & it does enhance the front end.
