Has everyone fitted their splitters spoilers side scoops from the recent group buy ????

got my K&H in primer and also my side scoops think its going to take a while to get rite due to the poor quality of the fiberglass the scoops are going to need lots of filler as in some places they don't even touch arrrrrggggrgrggrgrgrgrrgrgrg

oh well I suppose if it was easy it would not be so much fun!!!!!!

Just make sure you are fitting them the right way up. When I fitted mine I thought the same as you, until I swapped them round.

Ive fitted my splitter and if you jiggle it around all the bolt holes seem to make contact with the bumper, its a bit "forward" sitting if you look at it but its like everyone elses Ive seen. The back of the spoiler is roughly in line with the plastic liner of the front wheel arch. Its very slightly "chin up" but a couple of washers will get that sorted.

Its not the best quality fibreglass product ive seen but im happy for £50ish. Very pleased with the moulded in captive nuts, a nice touch. Ive posted some pics on the original m99 group buy thread if ya want to take a look. Will paint when Im happy its not going to get itself destroyed by my usual route to work over speed humps and can negotiate kerbs ;-)

So after running around with the spoiler in its original primer for nearly 4 weeks its not cracked, split, been ripped off the car by speed humps or otherwise self destructed as some may have predicated :woohoo: Im a happy bunny. So after a little filler round the edges its got a coat of paint so it'll look hopefully fairly standard and is just hardening off in my workshop before going back on the car with some stainless fittings.:-)

... lol just submitted this pic and even though in the real world you can see the spoilers in mgf metallic silver and is proper shiny the lights bad and it still looks grey!

With the splitter... Personally I'd use M8 nuts and bolts and large washers

The wood screw idea is not good.. Especially when your going over 70

The scoops I got from XR3TF were such a good fit.. You couldn't slide a fag paper in anywhere.. Amazing fit

The 'ear' type I fitted on Dawns car were a very very poor fit.. No idea who made them.. But same style as the group buy ones

Hi DD, theyre not wood screws, theyre stainless m6 bolts with Philips heads that screw into captive nuts embedded into the splitters fiberglass during construction. :-) Ive been really careful to make the holes in the bumper just large enough to get the bolt threads through so there is no movement and I'll be using washers too.

Its done around 400 high speed motorway miles in primer and it hasn't shifted so im confident its going to stay put. :-)

Only problem with stainless fixings are they are brittle..

Might be better with 8.8 zinc plated

The old method was wood screws through the plastic.. :omg: Nice to see they've thought about it and fitted the captive nuts :broon:

Here's the splitter all painted and fixed. Not quite sure what happened with the colour match, seems to have not quite worked out as intended. But its shiny and in place :-)

Splitters = chinstraps of Satan. Cue "sharper steering" statements etc etc. it just looks pretty if you like that sort of jive. In my opinion. Naturally.

However, I would question my Learned Friends 'brittle' statement. Google 'plastic stage and proportionality components of alloyed steel.' When bolting a bit of crappy plastic onto another bit of crappy plastic then the shear resistance of anything other than plastic ..... i.e. anything made of steel will be greater. So it really doesn't mucking fatter what you bolt it on with so long as it isn't plastic nuts and bolts. In my opinion.
Blu tak it on so I can drive over it in fact. When it falls off.:broon:

If there is really doubt as to which way up the thucking fings actually go.......i.e. some can't seem to figure out which way up they go on ........then they must be realllly aerodynamic in section.

Waiting for the first to claim they've driven upside down through the Dartford Tunnel.

Well, that's all splitter fans upset. Back to the Sons Flat Decorating....

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..
