Waxstock Win!!!
Yesterday, Sunday 7th July, Phil and I went to Waxstock - a show organised by Detailing World, a forum for OCDers ~ Obsessive Car Detailers!
Waxstock
We'd heard that an Arrive & Shine competition was to be held, following it's sucess last year. This was open to anyone arriving by car on the day. After a brief spell dithering in the car park, we thought "What the hell...nothing ventured, nothing gained!!!" filled the form in and drove through the gates!!!
After being joined by Dave Kerley from MGF Register in his gorgeous F, both cars were given a quick spruce up, and we left 'Ophelia' and 'Racing Vintage' to go and drool over some seriously shiny cars and vans parked alongside
The entrants in the main Show & Shine Showdown were superb, with the emphasis being on the detail of the shine, cleanliness etc, and not the rims, mods or whether it was concourse standard. It was judged using a weighted system so that daily drives were on an even keel with garage queens! The overall winner was a stunning Mk 1 Escort, with a beautifully kept Cortina from Penrith coming in 2nd
It was a great day, with stands from all the big brands... Autobrite-Direct, Meguiars, PoorBoys, Dodo Juice, Chemical Guys, Swissvax, AutoFinesse, Bouncers and many many more! There were demonstrations, masterclasses, a speed detailing competition as well as a 'tool bar' where you could try almost every sort of polisher, wax, cutting compound, microfibre cloth and tyre gel you could think of...bliss!!!
We even found a wooden DA detailer to match Phil's interior!
We ended up staying until prizegiving, as we couldn't move the car till 4pm and were stunned by the lengths some people went to in order to avoid dead midges and stone chips on their way home...
Sooooooooo...... imagine our delight when we were announced as RUNNERS UP in our class (Cars age 3-10yrs)...thrilled doesn't come close!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
All in all, a fantastic day :woohoo:

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Why oh why do people insist on putting hideous prophylactic devices on their cars?
I'd rather have stone chips on my paintwork than have one of those awful bloody car bras offending all who see it! :nonod:
The thing that amuses me is that dirt and muck can get under them and the car bra then rubs it into the paintwork as it flaps about in the airstream! :bust:
The damned things do more harm than good. They're also good at trapping water and causing rust.
I see this one has what appears to be fly wire over the head lights to render them useless and as a bonus it has strips over the cooling intakes to inhibit the efficiency of the cooling system and that very expensive intercooler. Well done that man! :nonod:
Oh! And congrats on being runner up in class. :broon:
