I told you so!!

So ..... some of you old fogeys will remember the parking woes outside my house several years ago .. .... that all came about after the council realigned the central line on the main road into Dunbar.

.... events that claimed my TF and Carols Mini amongst 7 cars that were written off in a 2 year period before we finally got our off street parking on the green.


At the time we petitioned the leader of East Lothian Council and the Chief Inspector of Lothian and Borders Police in person to amend the central line in the road back to it's original position, and also to install traffic islands on either side of the junction to enforce lane discipline ..... (traffic regularly 'cuts' the corner at speed, crossing onto the opposing carriageway) ... We also suggested widening the tight access junction to the shore road to stop traffic turning left from crossing into the opposite carriageway in order to complete their turn.

I said specifically at the time that if all our suggestion weren't implemented then it was a matter of when not if there was a serious accident in the future .....

















The car was turning left, out from the shore road and met the bus coming down the hill.

My colleagues at Belhaven Hospital (100yrds up the lane) were some of the first on the scene.


It's as plain as the nose on my face what happened ...... it'll be interesting to see what the authorities do about this deadly junction now its national news.

BTW Carols Mini was safely parked in our carpark, and Purranna was in Roodlands Hospital carpark, having conveyed me to my new job there.

Purranna is OK phew!
